The Mask and the Forest - there is always a connection between them, perhaps much greater than between a mask and a person. Since ancient times, abundance and... danger have come from the forest. For a long time, they tried to make the Forest an ally, to calm and secure it. They were afraid of the forest. And the spirits of the Forest were idolized and revered.
Ancient man was an animist who believed that everything on earth has a soul, and for a more comfortable coexistence with the forest and its spirits it was necessary to maintain good relations. This is how rituals appeared, designed to appease the rebellious spirits of the forest, and this is how masks depicting them appeared.
