1/2 gm.   A few people have asked about Solar Fury; and what the 'flame' actually is.  Its an arc of plasma called a solar prominence (sometimes referred to as a filament).  They are large plasma and magnetic field structures extending outward from the sun that generally loops back to the sun.

2/2 If plasma is ejected from the sun from a coronal mass ejections (CMEs) it is then considered a solar flare.    These prominences are large; many times the diameter of the earth extending in some cases several hundred thousand km above the sun. For comparison, the diameter of the earth is about 12,750 km.
