Anyone who is unable to understand a god sees it as a devil. "Devil" is a word we use for another peoples' god. -Joseph Campbell, 𝘙𝘦𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨

something Jordan Peterson once said that struck me as really interesting but now i know from experience to be true(i'm paraphrasing): we have so much encoded in our DNA—traits, instincts, abilities—that most of it stays dormant… unless life forces it out. there are parts of you that only extreme situations can unlock. Pressure, loss, chaos—those aren’t just obstacles. They’re activation codes. think about that for a second.

losses shape us more than wins ever could. that truth etched itself into me last year. there’s so much buried within us—potential, resilience, depth—we don’t even realize it’s there until something shakes us to the core. It often takes a massive disruption, a blow to the ego, to really wake us up. “The soul enters through the hole of defeat.” —Robert Bly

'Approaching the Unconscious’ in Man and His Symbols was Jung’s final written work before he died. A profound closing note—always worth a revisit.
