Around three years ago, I made my first transaction on Ethereum. What began as “a computer doing math” became a canvas for permanence in an impermanent world.
 
Today, I share “Digital Eternity” – an artwork that bridges my transient physical life and eternal digital essence.

Last year, I found myself exploring how the blockchain isn’t just an archive but a witness to our existence. It’s where our stories persist, defying the ephemeral nature of life.

“Digital Eternity” is the culmination of that journey.

This artwork is more than just a token, it’s a dynamic entity, a visualization of my digital soul. It pulses with ethereal energy, growing and evolving alongside me.

While I’m alive, the artwork pulses with a vibrant blue energy. It displays random thoughts I’ve preserved fully onchain with the function preserveThought().

But its most profound transformation comes after I’m gone. Through my will, I’ve aksed that a single function be called – declareTranscendence(). 

This will forever shift the artwork into its transcendent state, marking the beginning of my eternal existence on-chain.

Upon transcendence, the visualization changes: it takes on a beautiful pink hue, and the particles form new patterns. My final message is revealed: “In code we trust, on chain we persist, forever our digital souls exist.”

@jack once said, “To mint is a human right, and your right is your responsibility,” but I’d challenge instead with, “The blockchain is a human right, and your right is your responsibility.”

This smart contract isn’t just code; it’s a testament to what it means to exist in both physical and digital forms. It questions the permanence of our digital footprints and the nature of legacy in a blockchain-enabled world.
