Hesiod (flourished at 700 BC) was one of the earliest Greek poets, often called the β€œfather of Greek didactic poetry.” Two of his complete epics have survived, the Theogony, relating the myths of the gods, and the Works and Days, describing peasant life. A famous quote is written at Theogony: "Πρὸ Ξ΄α½² πυλῢν ἀρΡτῆς αΌ”ΞΈΞ·ΞΊΞ±Ξ½ ἀθάνατοι ἱδρῢτα." "Before the gates of excellence, the high gods have placed sweat" As a poet is amazing yet so simple, suggested that hard work and perseverance are essential for achieving excellence and success.
