when in the supermarket always think about how disconnected it all feels . food packed in plastic . vegetables come from far away places . and all of this is a very recent phenomenon in human history . yet completely normal now .
some years ago was staying in France in farming country . on the weekends would buy cheese from a Dutch goat farmer . we always shook hands . knowing these same hands made the cheese was going to eat was immensely satisfying and grounding .
