@dwr.eth in this post i try to put my finger on why i like tg dms better than WC DCs, to help you improve DC feel 
- tg feels much nicer to me than many other dm products — so much so that i often try to move convos from x, discord, wc into tg
- tg feels fast (animations on send)
- tg *is* fast (very keyboard friendly, cmd+k, drag and drop media works)
- read receipt indicator is easier to parse — clear and familiar send states: sending vs sent vs received vs read. crucially, read is blue while the rest are grey. right click to see details is more 2024 than 1997 web ui ellipsis button. 
- i turn off all notifs for social products, but i leave notifs on for messaging products. so wc dcs dont get my attention on lock screen like tg does
- the look of the conversation feels a degree more modern than the garish purple bubbles in DCs. 
- tg desktop is even better than mobile (no bubbles at all). having all messages left aligned and timestamps on the right side feels less cluttered and more legible.
