Yes, people and their belongings. Especially when it’s cold like this, the local homeless folk use the bus like a warming center, and since the windows are closed, it’s like getting hotboxed with BO, urine, and rotting garbage. I feel bad for them, but also for my nostrils.

No, but the bus drivers don’t get paid enough to try to confront them for not paying and risk getting assaulted. There’s also no one otherwise enforcing the fare. Portland might also have some kind of policy allowing the homeless to ride for free for a certain time/distance.

oh wow~ that's actually not good.....here in hawaii....the drive ain't mess around with a free ride..they call cops and their supervisor right away

I haven’t seen a transit cop in Portland in years!
