My parental unit is visiting the US next week too and to be honest, it’s always a struggle. My parents are fairly chill in many life aspects but I’m highly suspicious they think I’m a major disappointment because I don’t do anything like a normal person

They are proud of my career and the way I’ve been figuring out this country. Still, I’m behind everyone else’s kids in their eyes because I won’t have a family of my own and don’t own a home. Not much to do here - apart from earning enough to have my own house and support them in their older years, there is nothing else I can really change

They likely understand it but are still disappointed af 

So yeah, every visit is interesting to say the least
