Sometimes, the biggest setbacks can lead to the most important changes in our lives. A moment that feels like failure can be the push we need to grow, shift direction, or realize what matters.

For me, it was getting arrested, losing my career and sense of self. At the time, it felt like I had lost everything, and there was no coming back. I was doomed to a life of mediocrity. 

But in reality, that experience forced me to make some big changes in my life. I got clean, I rebuilt my confidence and today, I’m in a better place than I’ve ever been. That low point was the catalyst I needed to really change. 

What about you? What’s a failure or setback that turned out to be a blessing in disguise?

For me, the end of the world seemed like the time when the firm I worked for went bankrupt (I told this story here about a month ago). It seemed like the end to me then. However, since I already had a family, I couldn't give the appearance of how depressed and distressed I was. Eventually I started twisting and turning to find a way out of the situation. I started doing business, renovations, my brother and I even started my own small company. This went on for a very long time, until eventually I was invited to work at the airport, where I started doing what I love to do again.

As I further analyzed everything I went through, I came across the idea that I had learned a lot and that I was a very handy guy. In all that time I gained countless connections that I still use to this day. I realized that it pushed me to do a lot more self-development, gave me motivation to move on and I learned more pros than cons.
