Vitalik Buterin proposed a method for speeding up transactions in Ethereum. In his new essay, the Ethereum co-founder wrote about technologies that would reduce L1 confirmation times from a few seconds to milliseconds. In particular, he proposed moving from the current epoch and slot mechanism to a single-slot finalization (SSF) system.
