In 2015, I decided to study mathematics because my girlfriend was studying it. At the time, I was so caught up in my feelings that I couldnât see clearly. Adolescence really is a stage you look back on with embarrassment as you grow older. Unsurprisingly, we broke up during the prep year, and I ended up spending four years trapped in a decision Iâd made for the wrong reasons. Although I performed well in my studies, I wasnât the type to curry favor with others. When I attended an interview for a masterâs program, I realized the process wasnât about achievements at allâit was entirely based on connections and favoritism. In that moment, the full weight of my regret about my education hit me. I hated the entire faculty. That day, I decided it would be my last at the university, and Iâve never looked back since.
