In the internet age, every joke finds its critic. The reason the world became PC in the post-internet era is that every joke offends some subgroup in the larger audience. Before the internet, jokes lived within certain subgroups or subgeographies peacefully in equilibrium. Now, the internet unifies information, making those jokes offensive to others globally. The internet shouts at the joke-tellers until they stop, leading to an equilibrium where it's better for everyone to be PC to avoid annoying anyone.

Will we see a return to tribal silos within Web2 or Web3 that are gated to everyone else? Like subreddits or channels, but with active getekeeping to maintain a high degree of likemindedness, in turn enabling jokes and carefree discussions without concern for offending anyone
