Blockchain scalability remains a critical hurdle. Layer 2 solutions like Optimistic Rollups and zk-Rollups offer speed and cost savings but require trust in validators. Layer 1 upgrades, such as Ethereum's EIP-1559 or Solana’s Proof of History, increase transaction throughput directly at the base layer. Each approach has tradeoffs: security vs. decentralization, complexity vs. efficiency. Choosing the right path is key to the future of blockchain.
