I'm certainly guilty of this, but not intentionally 👀. As a third world crypto user, I'm pretty much here because of /stablecoins 

I'm sure you would agree that this industry can do better than Tron, but that's where the stablecoin is at 👀 and where me and the homies still transact. 

Built my app on @gnosischain because xDAI is gas and /circles. Equally excited about @celo because Mento Labs 👀. 

I've written off Solana just as much as the Bitcoin network (which I have never used once in my life 👀) ...just not enough stablecoin activity to be interesting in my life.

I think solana is probably better than ETH and Tron bc it's faster and cheaper 

For building apps, I generally think its best to choose a chain where you think your app will be the most likely to find users

Ahh, that's interesting. I had no idea the Solana now ranks 3rd by stablecoin activity. It's really impressive. 

In that case, I wonder if what I'm missing is some localized network effect that could cause me to adopt Solana. I'm still more likely to spend stablecoins on BSC simply because I know enough people have adopted it around me. Though the chat shows that volume on BSC is now a shadow of its formal self.

Celo has pretty reasonable network effects now, and it's not even registering on the chart.

With regards to deploying apps where the users are, consider that some applications don't necessarily appeal to the general crypto audience. Deploying p2p electrification services is one such example, and the target user is anyone in parts of the world who lacks reliable access or any access to electricity.

Choosing a chain to build on based on population or other user metrics would only make sense if there is significant overlap with the target users. Otherwise, the deciding factor would be something else.
