Since I spoke with @freeatnet.eth at Devconnect '23, I've been bothered by Justin Sun & Tron capturing the stablecoin market. It's not only less secure than Ethereum but also much more expensive than L2s. A few weeks ago I met Marek - Co-Founder of Celo - and he told me that Celo has almost the same stablecoin usage as Tron. They have a partnership with Opera (yes, the browser we used to download to get rid of IE) that's apparently very popular in mobile-dominated Africa and integrated a stablecoin wallet inside the browser. Plus they did tons of other things described by Marek in this essay. I'm happy that Celo will soon become an L2. https://news.kiwistand.com/stories?index=0x66f12fd1611a954cf16cd0750215321a2e8416758c8b16b14bc8158c2a1f5ed775237878

Ahh, the stablecoin growth on /celo has been phenomenal. Didn't know it was now doing enough volume to rival Tron. This is really bullish the Ethereum ecosystem π₯³ There is literally an L2 reclaming Ethereum dominance in every facet of L1 specialization π - MegaETH: the Solana killer - Base: the BSC killer - Zora: the Flow killer ...and now - Celo: the Tron killer

Great take! Seems like this rollup-centric roadmap wasn't such a bad idea :)
