According to the CDC, two doses are 97% effective against measles. People who don’t get the MMR vaccine in childhood can still get it later in life. The CDC has said that most people who get the MMR vaccine will be protected for life, and there are no official recommendations to get a third dose of the vaccine during a measles outbreak.
