Why are current L2s extractive and not symbiotic to $ETH ? Simple math. Congestion on the L2 raises execution fees captured by centralised sequencers. This does not automatically lead to more data blob fees paid. On the contrary, L2s have every incentive to maximize fee elasticity whereby the optimal point is maximum execution fees with minimal blob fees paid. Ethereum’s rollup pivot was meant to scale fast. But 5 years later, rollups are extractive, fragmented, and misaligned with Ethereum’s core economic engine.
