I was at a social event last night with Hollywood types. They were very interested in the intersection of crypto and media. They were just as excited about Farcaster, specially as I explained how the Merkle team did a tremendous job at abstracting away the Ethereum identity layer (wallets, private keys) and financial layer (payments). But the fee to join was still too high a hurdle for them. I’ll be gifting them all accounts but @dwr.eth @v should consider removing it altogether to accelerate onboarding. Beyond being there to discourage bots (it doesn’t) I don’t think it serves a valuable enough purpose, and keeps good people away. Also, more soon about my plans for developing better crypto narratives with Hollywood.

Who's in Hollywood that is used to paying less than $5 for anything?

That’s missing the point. No one wants to pay to use a social app. And tbf Farcaster doesn’t present a sufficiently novel experience for them to do so beyond connecting with people building in crypto.

Yeah that's why I don' think its the right time to drop the fee Because nothing you said changes without a fee Maybe power users getting free invites is a better strategy
