The event of April 30, 1975, commonly known as April 30, Liberation Day of the South, National Reunification Day (the name of the State of Vietnam) or the Fall of Saigon (the name of the Western press), or the Day of National Hatred and Black April (in the anti-communist Vietnamese community abroad) was the event that ended the Vietnam War when the People's Army of Vietnam and the Liberation Army of South Vietnam entered the city of Saigon, President of the Republic of Vietnam Duong Van Minh and his cabinet announced the unconditional surrender of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam on the morning of April 30, 1975.
