Maps like this seem counterproductive to their cause. If someone's main exposure to the phrase "American occupation" is things like this, and then they visit Seoul and see how great it is, why would they not conclude that "American occupation" is great and they should help more of the world become America-occupied?

as someone who holds citizenship in the american occupation zone, served in the military, and met koreans from both sides, i dont follow what sophie's cause is. afaict sophie wants to suggest a snarky geographic nomenclature informed by their own political ideologies?

is there anything more?

while not perfect, the on the ground experience of the american occupation zone is pretty damn good and im a happy customer

and historically, america isnt the peninsula's first occupation. some may say the inhabitants of the peninsula are occupation connoisseurs.

previous occupation includes: china (and it's different dynasties) and japan.

this iteration is not bad—pretty good autonomy and sovereignty
