Great evening in NYC for the centennial, with a panel discussing the importance of Duke Excellence in sport and how the changing landscapes of the NIL and transfer pool are impacting our athletes and athletic department / budget. Love how important the alumni experience is to being a Dukie. Our education extends beyond our 4 years on campus!

I wish I had researched more about the recent settlements. It was also interesting bc with the tr*mp presidency, there may be room for federal regulation (lol ironic) of the NIL. I am supportive of athletes getting paid, however it was fascinating to hear how those dollars are going to come out of the university and where those dollars are coming from, and how they plan to be equitable amongst athletes in football and basketball with those who are in the Olympic sport athletics world (big focus on that too bc the USA is the only developed country that does not financially contribute to Olympic sports, so universities are a hugely important feeder system for Olympics)
