Obatala - Father of all Orishas and all humanity


Obatala is considered the "owner of the head" and the "owner of purity" in Yoruba tradition. He is believed to have been the first divinity that Olodumare (the Supreme Creator) commissioned to create the physical human body.

According to the myth, Olodumare gave Obatala the task of molding the human form out of clay. Obatala was given the responsibility of giving shape, character, and quality to the bodies he created.
