Memecoins, such as Dogecoin and Shiba Inu, are undeniably part of cryptocurrency, but their appeal lies more in hype than utility. Unlike Bitcoin or Ethereum, which offer technological innovation or serve as a store of value, memecoins thrive on community driven enthusiasm and social media influence.
Community is far more crucial than technical innovation for memecoins. Their success depends on the strength of their supporters and the ability to generate buzz. While some projects attempt to introduce utility, such as DeFi integrations or NFTs, their value remains speculative.
By 2025, memecoins will likely remain volatile, influenced by trends, influencers, and regulations. Established players may persist, but only those that adapt and create tangible use cases will endure long-term.
