Toxoplasmosis Approximately 225,000 cases of toxoplasmosis are reported each year, resulting in 5000 hospitalizations and 750 deaths, making T gondii the third most common cause of lethal foodborne disease in the United States. This parasite has two life cycles one of them in the mammals and humans and the other in the cats unfortunately, its active form is ready after the cat cycle it spreads through coming out with cat feces and can live up to one year in suitable environment, and it can infect humans through direct contact with cat feces or not clean vegetables or undercooked meat of infected mammals. Most of the patients are symptomless but the problem is when it infects an immunocompromised person or pregnant woman which will lead to serious damage reaching death of the newborn or serious nervous system problems, well that what we thought till very near when the new research found out that big percentage of people with psychological disorders are infected with toxoplasmosis like psychosis and Alzheimer
