there’s a weird limbo state right now for channels that haven’t set up a membership frame and don’t have a “join now!” button that leads to a frame or smth 

Users who want to be in the channel have no good way to request memberships.

DC’ing channel owner doesn’t make sense

A lot of channel owners don’t even realize how to add the button there 

thoughts:

1. There should be a button there by default. It can say smth like “Get Membership”

2. If the channel has not set up a way for users to get memberships in frames or otherwise, the button can lead to a pop-up with smth like: “this channel does not have a membership frame yet”

Just having this experience would spur more channel owners to customize their button and experience 

3. channels could change copy popup or choose from templates. E.g.  “this channel is by invitation only. Please ask a member for an invite”

4. Channels settings for who can invite people to the channel:
-only mods
-any member
