Is there even a role left for humans once AGI is fully superior? What differentiates us... feelings? Those can be programmed. The only think I can think of is our ability to connect with God, which I like to believe is real but who really knows🤷♂️

I don’t think we need a collective “role” to stay relevant. We can just… Exist. Like we always have, and like all life on Earth has done for eons. Though, full disclosure, my perspective is colored by my lack of belief in God, and that we cultivate our own meaning for our lives vs. an external purpose. YMMV.

Just existing is cool if you're doing things to help you exist (hunting, building, surviving) but when all of it is done for you I don't see that being worthwhile. Either we go into VR and forget we exist or connect w/ the AI & level up. I think some will go off grid, some will go into VR, and most will connect.

I also think merging with AI is the most likely outcome, simply by precedent. Humans are a technological species—our technology has become so deeply integrated into our lives and societies that sometimes we hardly recognize them as technologies, like language (spoken & written), fire, cooking, textiles, etc.
