Kabuki (in Japanese: 歌舞伎) is a type of traditional Japanese theater known for its dramatic style and the elaborate costumes of its performers. Kabuki plays are categorized into three types: historical, domestic (family), and dance. Historical performances often deal with very important events in Japanese history. Unlike historical plays, which are mostly about the samurai class, domestic (family) plays focus on social constraints and problems, particularly concerning couples who, due to various issues and obstacles, cannot live together in this world and decide to be together after death, often resulting in suicide.
