As a film critic in March 2025, I’ve seen some standout releases. Mickey 17, Bong Joon Ho’s latest, dazzles with Robert Pattinson’s cloned astronaut facing cosmic chaos—wildly inventive yet tonally uneven. Black Bag, Soderbergh’s spy thriller, pairs Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender in a sleek, witty showdown that’s pure escapist fun. The Electric State from the Russo Brothers, however, flops hard—a bloated robot saga that wastes its starry cast on a grim, incoherent mess. Sister Midnight, a Mumbai-set black comedy, surprises with macabre charm and Radhika Apte’s unhinged bride. Finally, Last Breath recreates a tense deep-sea rescue with gripping precision, a throwback thriller that lingers. This year’s films swing from bold highs to costly lows—cinema’s alive, if unpredictable.
