."Medico della peste" or the plague doctor with his long beak is one of the most distinctive masks of the Venice carnival, which was designed by a French doctor in the 17th century to prevent the plague. This mask is often seen in white with a hollow beak and round eyes with transparent plates on them that look like glasses.
