Climate change has had a profound impact on the world's biodiversity.  Increasing temperature, changing rainfall patterns and extreme weather phenomena have caused many animal and plant species to not be able to adapt to the new conditions quickly enough.  This has led to the reduction of the population of many species and even the extinction of some of them.  For example, sea corals become bleached and die due to rising water temperatures.  Preserving biodiversity requires measures such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and protecting natural habitats.
