chatFUKR began with an idea of producing a project under a pseudonym. Feeling liberated by the idea of making art anonymously my mind immediately went back to a series of paintings I made when I was 17 years old of disembodied heads and alien fetus like creatures all in the midst of a despairing existential scream.

I was really nervous about the reaction and wondered if my holders would see this as me selling out to PFP culture or it people just wouldn’t get what story I was trying to tell with the art. However, quickly it became clear there was something about this project that resonated with both the PFP and gen art worlds.

So at some point after a month or so of working in this way I felt very proud of the new art I was creating and realized my collectors would work out it was me so I just came clean and announced the project.

Pretty quickly I fell in love with this new process of combining many algorithmic visual languages together in a single artwork unified by the figurative narrative of each character. I can now see myself evolving my own brand of generative figurative (genfig) art for many years to come.

Despite being fond of these paintings I never re-examine this theme thinking they were just the product of an unrefined teenage imagination. So I thought why not see if I can recreate the energy of these paintings using the generative approaches to art making I have been evolving for the last 12 years.
