So your position is "the US and China are equally oppressive regimes"?

Who is "they"? Link? Are you saying the US is not more democratic than China?

The best case is decentralized socia media. While we build that, I think a company based in a liberal democracy (imperfect as it may be) is preferable, just because in case of nefarious manipulation attempts, a whistle blower is obviously more likely there than in a dictatorship.

I think the pro-palestinian activity argument is a red herring. The possibility of influence by the Chinese government does exist. https://www.axios.com/2024/03/15/tiktok-ban-security-china-laws

Which taxes (apart from the possible betting gains), given that the ETH is not sold? Just curious.

2x in two months (in your estimation, in average) is pretty good EV. Plus in principle you could use your ETH as collateral to borrow (a small amount of) stables to bet on polymarket to keep the ETH upside at the same time.

Amusing to see Orban's Fidesz call that "extreme left-wing ideologies" when even European conservatives voted for it (and pushed Fidesz out of their group a couple of years ago).

The EU Parliament is contesting the money that was unfrozen. So that move is a loss, not a win, for Orban. The Hungarian forint dropped to a one year low against the euro on the news. https://dailynewshungary.com/dramatic-fall-hungarian-forint-plunged-to-a-one-year-low/

Orban indeed hinted they should consider leaving once they become net contributors. Parasite mentality. https://dailynewshungary.com/will-hungary-leave-the-eu-by-2030/

Indeed they are near the bottom in the OurWorldInData source. Any idea why specifically? Brexit a cause/symptom of it, among others?

Trying too hard to be a contrarian is indeed a problem for some "influencers", I'm not convinced it's the case for Francis. Surprises me as he's been rather progressive on several issues (relatively to a typical Roman Catholic pope). I wonder why he's essentially parroting Putin's version. Maybe bad/compromised advice?

I'm not sure zerohedge is a reliable source.
