I checked out the Lens V3 docs last night. It feels like Lens is shifting from a social-first approach to a blockchain-first one. it's an EVM-compatible blockchain with powerful social features for developers. (AAVE chain 😂) With the SDK, you can easily build a social network client, even tailored to your audience with a custom graph. But tech isn’t the core for social networks, it’s content and real people. Any social app still faces the challenge of user acquisition and retention to build network effects. Lens V3 didn't answer for this, it's all left up to developers. https://dev-preview.lens.xyz/docs

I am pretty optimistic about V3. They do not solve the « how do we get DAU » problem, but they provide everything for others to try and solve it. Builders will be able to build faster and pivot easier than today.

How to increase DAU That's the main issue. If the team has the skills, creating their own social platform is the better option.

Orb is Web3 Art focussed, Farcaster is Web3 builders focussed. They have a qualified but limited market. Bluesky is left-wing freedom focused, a bit bigger but still limited. Being able to launch several long tail focused social network at low cost might be an interesting route with Lens 3
