Warpcast is a decentralized social network built on the Farcaster protocol, developed by Merkle Manufactory—a company founded by former Coinbase executives Dan Romero(@dwr.eth ) and Varun Srinivasan(@v ) In July 2022, Merkle Manufactory secured $30 million in funding from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) to advance Farcaster’s development. By May 2024, the company raised an additional $150 million in a Series A round led by Paradigm, elevating its valuation to $1 billion. Warpcast enables users to create profiles, post messages called "casts," and follow others, offering a user experience similar to Twitter. The platform’s decentralized nature ensures users have control over their accounts and connections, allowing seamless transitions between applications.
