There are 3 business models for apps. 1. Free with ads 2. Subscription 3. Transaction fee The common thread for all three models is the user—a person, business or AI—has money to spend. That’s obvious for 2 and 3 since the model involves spending money directly with the app. But for 1, if your user base doesn’t have money to spend, the ability to monetize via ads will be low.

Was thinking that is a #4 that is evolving here in particular. Hold/stake/lock tokens is definitely being explored but 1) probably only works sustainably very early in a product/company life cycle 2) if price tanks based on uncontrollable variables it can sour people even on a good product 3) aside from generating fees on token purchase what is the actual revenue model? Seems like eventually it would have to give way to 2 or 3 on Dan’s list.
