Masks have been present in art history since Antiquity, and one of their first functions was linked to cross-dressing in the performing arts. This Roman mosaic, found in 1824 on Mount Aventine, shows a familiar image. It recalls what known today as the symbol of theater today: a laughing mask – depicting the art of Comedy – and a grimacing mask for Tragedy.

Masks are an inseparable part of the culture of nations and can be seen in all civilizations.Since cultures have been formed,masks have been created, sometimes they were part of rituals and ceremonies, and sometimes they were used during games,sometimes they were decorative,sometimes they were used to save human lives.

I happened to come across the picture of this cute animal today. Quokkas can be found on small islands off the coast of Western Australia, particularly Rottnest Island near Perth. I was really fascinated by this cute and smiling creature. Did you decide to travel to Rottnest Island like me? 😍🥹
