Blockchains let us speedrun the creation and destruction of civilizations, allowing *anyone* to design societies at the pace of software instead of the pace of revolution.

I would suggest we rebrand the study of using mechanism design and cryptography to solve coordination problems as “Tokenology.” That’s why I wrote the first piece. https://a16zcrypto.com/content/article/beyond-tokenomics-tokenology/

Designing a good token can be really hard. I believe there isn’t such a thing as a good token model or a bad token model. There is only a token model that achieves your goals as a builder.

Tokenomics (a portmanteau of token and economics) inherently focuses on financial applications of blockchains, but I believe the societal ramifications can be much broader.

do you think the tokenomics slide should replace the “busines model” slide (since revenue is part of tokenimics + investors ultimately want an exit, so better sell them how that’d work with the token?
