It was Mert’s tweet about Ethereum L2s not being competitive to Solana that sent me down this path, as this is entirely contradictory to my experience working with early stage founders. Almost every week I have conversations with pre-product teams that are considering L2s and alternative L1s alongside Solana.

However, TON is culturally and technically isolated from the mainstream ecosystem, making it challenging to attract developers and integrate with other ecosystems. Its unique structure and programming language create high entry barriers for developers and present disadvantages in terms of compatibility with other blockchain infra and middleware utilization.

Ethereum addressed the problem with EIP-4844, introducing a separate space called blobs for L2s to store their data. Consequently, the cost dropped to 1.7k ETH the following month and to just over 100 ETH by August—a 99% reduction. So, is the cost issue for rollups solved? I wish it were that simple.

This is very different than, say a DEX aggregator optimizing a swap across just DEXs on one chain. It's a token-centric worldview where the user only needs to think about the assets they need, and can optionally get the asset delivered to a chain of choice.

BiT Global cited Hong Kong’s legal requirements to defend this move, stating that no single shareholder can hold more than 20% control in a company. The corporate registry indicates that all of the five listed shareholders share the same British Virgin Islands address. This has fuelled suspicions that Justin Sun, although not formally listed, still has a disproportionate influence over BiT Global. While there is no direct proof, the circumstantial evidence has raised serious questions within the community about the true level of decentralisation in this new structure.
