One intriguing idea I learned during ZuConnect and ZuSocial was "pseudonym parties", first proposed by Bryan Ford & Jacob Strauss in 2008 to address the conflict between anonymity and accountability. It provides proof of personhood to pseudonyms without revealing their underlying identity.

Here's the idea: multiple events take place at the same time, all giving participants digital certificates; since one can only appear at a particular physical location at the same time, these certificates are valid proof of personhood. The paper: https://bford.info/pub/net/sybil.pdf
