I was interning at an investment bank ~2019 and they accidentally kept me on payroll after my internship. When I contacted HR about it they asked me to pay it back but they could only accept the money as a certified check...

When I went to my own bank, the fee for a certified check was ~35$ that I had to pay out of pocket to get that check to pay back the money that was accidentally given to me. Despite all the mistakes both institutions made I was the one who foot that bill on a student's budget :/
