Activity Metrics – 2/9

UPDATE: There has been an explosion in activity, most notably in active addresses, decreasing the ratio of transactions per active address to ~2 per day. We will explore this further in the Blockspace section.

Recently, the average active address has been making over 15 transactions per day. This is higher than the average chain and has been driven by recent growth in transaction count, which has outpaced growth in active addresses. Unsurprisingly, throughput correlates closely with transaction count, except for a notable spike in throughput in mid-March.

Value Secured – 3/9

Unichain has seen a surge in growth for both stablecoins and TVS (Total Value Secured), with TVS being ~3.5x larger than stablecoins. This places it comfortably in the top 10 (on growthepie) for both metrics. Recently stablecoins grew by 29% in a day, highlighting the potential for further growth in these metrics.

Onchain Economics – 4/9

UPDATE: Following a recent surge in transactions, Unichain achieved a new all-time high in daily revenue and rent paid to the L1, generating a profit of $2,440 for the day.

Unichain officially launched on February 11th, marking its peak in onchain activity and value generated for the community.  Since then, it has remained mostly profitable on a daily basis, staying net positive overall. Recently, we’ve seen an upward trend in revenue, which bodes well for future profitability.

Transaction Costs – 5/9

UPDATE: Even during spikes in onchain activity, Unichain maintains a daily median transaction cost of below 1 cent at $0.0013.

With sub-cent median transaction costs, Unichain is highly affordable, ranking in the top 5 based on the monthly average. Further transaction cost datapoints can be found on our fees page.

- CeFi: 2.18%
- NFT: 2.4%
- Social: 0.33%
- Utility: 7.52%
- Token Transfers: 18.49%
- Cross-Chain: 4.56%
- Unlabeled: 23.89%

With over 40% of transactions categorized as DeFi, DeFi plays a significant role on Unichain. 
 
UPDATE: The recent increase in activity can be attributed to token transfers, which accounted for over 78% of all transactions on April 22. Using our Category Comparison page, we can confirm that these were primarily native token transfers (ETH). Spikes in activity such as these are rarely organic and are often associated with farmers.

- CeFi: 6.58%
- NFT: 6.25%
- Social: 0.09%
- Utility: 7.86%
- Token Transfers: 11.53% (previously 5.21%)

Compared to transaction count, DeFi plays a smaller role in Unichain’s gas fees. However, a recent surge in DeFi-related gas fees may be reversing this trend. 
 
UPDATE: The increase in token transfers is also reflected in gas fees, which accounted for over 46% of total fees on April 22.
