The first fashion that drew me in was Jhane Barnes. Her last menswear line was released in 2013, but check this out. For the /gen-art fashion crowd, the fabric used in her designs was generative art by way of loom instructions! For the /degen fashion crowd, her Rhedux line was numbered limited editions of each item!

[She] sends the concept to Bill Jones and Dana Cartwright, the two mathematicians on her staff. Jhane gives Bill and Dana a clear idea of her artistic vision and they translate her idea into mathematical algorithms https://web.archive.org/web/20070630000220/https://www.pbs.org/teachers/mathline/career/career0899.shtm

Like artwork comprised of layer upon layer of paint, Jhane's patterns are built over time using complex software programs and Jhane's highly attuned impulses. Jhane seamlessly works between twenty different programs, taking inspiration from unique program tools that enhance or alter her original idea.

Not sure if anyone sees the subsequent posts in my attempts at threads here. Tagging you here @charlicohen and @slowcrypto so that you see this archived article spotlighting cool careers in math and talking about Jhane Barnes generative loom programming.
