Playing TCG and building a couple decks. What's your Pokemon / energy / trainer card ratios?

Modern decks usually only run maybe 10 energies with as many as 35 trainer cards! It’s wild to realize how important trainer cards are to playing because I always hated them as a kid!!

Why so little energies? Like how would you ever attack? If the energies are discarded after your pokemon dies. How would you get them back? I think I may be misunderstanding the rules.

It’s pretty wild, right? The number of energies varies by deck but, for example, one of the top decks right now featuring Charizard ex often only runs 6 energies as seen in this list: https://limitlesstcg.com/decks/list/10609 They use Super Rod to recover them from the discard pile.
