The Mexica (Aztecs) saw time as cyclical, with world ages rising and falling. But unlike Christian apocalypticism or Eastern cyclic thought, their eschatology wasn’t moral or teleological. While there’s a shared sense of the world ending, the purpose and meaning differ radically. A more fitting comparison would be Hindu or Buddhist. Mesoamerican world endings were mythic resets... not about sin or salvation, but cosmic balance. Hence, the skull racks: not symbols of punishment but offerings to sustain the universe.
