this is my barometer for these tariffs. it's an intersection of multiple markets confluencing to keep a necessary product (and a necessarily "affordable" product) relatively price-stable. if my coffee grinder I paid 16 bucks for 3 months ago is drastically more than $20.66 in the coming weeks and months, you know shit is sliding sideways.

I use Dog Food Brand Drift as a gauge. People eat ramen before feeding their dog off-brand kibble. When that changes, it’s quiet surrender. Things are “sliding sideways” more than we admit.

as a lifelong dog-lover, I used to think this way as well, and I believe it may still generally hold for many, if not most dog-havers, but when times get tight, I change my dog's food and will often make them food myself but get like donation food or from friends and family. FOr right now, costco has the best price on the dog food I get them. and if/when that changes then I will have to reconfigure for sure. What I WILL say is chewy is a ripoff, stopped using them 2 years ago and so happy. same with scamazon.
