Completely agree. I will say custodial has its place and benefit, but self custodial should be the norm. HOWEVER, we are not ready yet. A super simple - as in so simple my grandma could do it, s i m p l e - is a must. It needs to also be secure to the extreme whole also being near impossible to lose (access to). So, not there yet. But we are close, i believe.

We're approaching a reality where custodial ownership of Ether is the norm rather than the exception. I still believe that self-custody is the only "right" way to hold crypto, and I hope we don't lose that shared value to corporations.

i think the article hit the nail on the head. @jmann.eth feels he is in a good position to: 1. preemptively get any concern of the SEC coming after him out of the way 2. push the SEC with a lawsuit which isnt an "easy" win for the SEC to continue their agenda with selected targets

OK, I was anticipating you walking through the recovery steps in the song! that got me thinking, we should team up and create a set of step by step walk through guides for basic web3 tasks. how to videos by Song-A-Day Mann! guides such as how to create new accounts on various wallets, or backing up said account, or recovery etc. 🤔

reminds me of a story about a university that constructed a new building on campus, yet placed no sidewalks, only grass. after 1 semester, they paved every trail to the building where no grass was growing. ie where all the students' short cuts cut trails through the grass. what is the digital UX equivalent of that?
