So yesterday I played Royal Dornoch, #2 on the latest Golf digest greatest golf course list. Played alone at sunset (6pm tee time, 3 hours round). The pictures do not give an idea of how difficult and beautiful this golf course is. Greens are mostly elevated with deep bunkers all around and it's very long for a links. Played my best round of the trip , helped by not having any wind

yeah and from the pictures you can't really tell how deep they are. luckily I only went into 2 at Dornoch, while hitting 6 the day before at brora. Oddly I'm an awful bunker player back home and was great during all the trip here in Scotland... maybe it's the sand... who knows.
