I believe I just directly experienced a communist government official’s hostility towards me for being an American. They tried to stop me from leaving the country with my U.S. passport. A representative from Avianca had to step in.

Love this country but hard to image how long I can stay.

I would call it authoritarian practice, it reflects broader government control over individual freedoms, including the right to travel.

Communist regimes historically have also been authoritarian in nature, though the defining feature of communism involves state control over the economy and resources.
