I find it odd that in Japan software engineering sometimes boils down to writing code based on predetermined specifications resulting in clunky application and technical debt. If you’re not talking about business, the vision and the code that goes with it, it’s worth rethinking how to approach problem solving in your organization. Engineers can certainly bring more to the table than system design and implementation, opening up for cross-functional exchange brings about innovation and supercharges teams. I think we still have some steps to go to bring about this dynamic in Japan, it’s never too late for innovation though 😁
